Richard Young is a licensed New Hampshire Real Estate Broker Associate and has been affiliated with eXp Realty in Portsmouth, NH since 2018. eXp Realty is a nationwide real estate brokerage with offices in all fifty states. For twenty-eight years, Richard was a co-owner of Omega Realty Group, a RE/MAX affiliated brokerage and he has been a full-time real estate broker for thirty-six years. Richard focuses on the sale of single-family residential real estate and specializes in residential income property. He consults with investors in identifying, evaluating and implementing strategies for the acquisition, financing, and disposition of income-producing properties. Richard also has extensive experience in marketing and managing bank-owned (REO) real estate, as well as assisting consumers in avoiding foreclosure through the negotiation of “short sales.” Richard has been a member of the Greater Manchester/Nashua Board of Realtors® since 1985. Richard has served on various Board Committees including Membership, Orientation, Grievance, and Professional Standards. Richard is a past member in good standing of New Hampshire Chapter 138, Society of Real Estate Appraisers. Prior to joining RE/MAX affiliated companies, Richard was employed as a commercial broker by Finlay Commercial Real Estate responsible for the sales and leasing of office/warehouse projects. From 1985 to 1987, Richard was employed as a sales associate with ERA Sunset Realty in Bedford, NH. Richard is also a former residential real estate appraiser who owned and operated Hanover Appraisal Services from 1987 to 1988. In 1988 Richard was a pioneer instrumental in introducing the practice of Buyer Agency to residential real estate consumers – seven years before the concept resulted in the enactment of legislation and adoption of New Hampshire real estate law. Richard has completed the education requirements necessary to earn the following advanced designations awarded by the National Association of Realtors®: ABR; Accredited Buyers Representative, CDPE; Certified Distressed Property Expert, CRB; Certified Brokerage Manager, CRS; Certified Residential Specialist, GRI; Graduate Realtors Institute. Richard has also completed an extensive course of study in real estate counseling, and in 2007, was awarded the designation of ACRE; Accredited Counselor of Real Estate, the first such designee in the State of New Hampshire. In 2010 he completed the requirements for the Loss Mitigation Certification (LMC)awarded by the National Association of Realtors and in 2015 Richard was certified by NAR as one of the first Real Estate Negotiation Experts (RENE) in The state of New Hampshire. In addition to his educational achievement, Richard has been a guest lecturer at New Hampshire Technical College and various Board of Realtor® Workshops, has served as Zone Director (New Hampshire and Vermont) to the RE/MAX of New England Broker-Owner Executive Council, and has been inducted into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame. Richard is also co-author of the book “How To Make Your Realtor® Get You The Best Deal” - New Hampshire edition. A native New Englander, Richard is a retired Navy Senior Chief Electronics Technician who served twenty years with the naval submarine forces. He was employed as an electrical engineer by a number of Defense Electronics firms prior to his career in real estate. Richard and his wife Pamela have been residents of the town of Bedford, NH since 1983.
